What we collect
When you visit, we measure how the site is used: the pages you view, the page you came from, your device type and browser, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We do this with Google Analytics and PostHog, configured so that neither sets a cookie or stores an identifier on your device: Google Analytics runs with analytics storage denied, and PostHog receives an identifier that exists only for a single page view and builds no profile of you.
What is stored on your device
Only your choice of light or dark appearance, if you make one, kept in your browser's local storage so the next page uses it. The site sets no cookies.
Why we process it
To understand how the site is used so that we can improve it. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR and EU GDPR Article 6(1)(f)); the measurement is cookieless and holds no direct identifiers, which keeps its effect on your privacy small.
Who processes it for us
Google (Google Analytics) and PostHog (in its EU region) process this data on our behalf as processors. Where data is processed outside the UK or the European Economic Area, it is protected by a lawful transfer mechanism such as an adequacy decision, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is retained for a limited period and holds no direct identifiers.
